"The world is so exquisite, with so much love and moral depth, that there is no reason to deceive ourselves with petty stories for which there's little good evidence. Far better, it seems to me, in our vulnerability, is to look Death in the eye and to be grateful every day for the brief but magnificent opportunity that life provides." ~Carl Sagan~
Good evening dear ones. Today turned out to be a day of learning for me. This morning, when I pulled into work, my car died on me. Although I didn't panic, I still thought to myself, 'oh crap, now what!', because I was not yet in a parking spot, and then what to do when the work day was done!! I knew I had jumper cables, and a charger in the back of the car, so if nothing else, I had the tools to get me going again. Luckily, when I turned the key it roared to life once again, I was able to park my car properly, and start my work day. I made plans to take my car to get the battery replaced, because I knew it was old and was probably the cause of my morning troubles. Sure enough, once I did some running around getting a new battery, and then getting it installed, my car was running beautifully once more. My mind is now at ease.
The learning came in on my drive home, and I thought to myself that the day may have started out as an almost disaster, it actually turned out to be a good day. The best part, I didn't panic, or freak out. I didn't think, 'well my day is just going to be a shit day', and put myself in a funk. I picked up on the positive of my car starting right away after it died first thing this morning, also that it started again when I was getting ready to leave work. Finally, that I was able to get everything done before I could possibly get stranded somewhere!
There is good in every day my darlings. You just have to be open to it, and give yourself the chance to see it. I can tell you, it certainly makes a difference. Hopefully, I can help this trend continue by focusing on the good in every day. So when I call my boys to let them know I'm coming home from work, I have asked them to word the usual 'how's your day, mom' a little differently. I have asked them to phrase it 'What was good about your day, mom', and I am going to try and name three things each day. I hope that each of you that reads this will do the same. Take up the challenge, and find at least three things that you liked about your day. They can be as simple as the sun shining, or that you opened your eyes.
Take care of yourselves, and each other my loves. Life is far too short for anything less than wonder and amazement. Be Kind, Be Peace, and Be Love. Yesterday is past and tomorrow isn't promised. Live and love for today. - Live - Laugh - Love - Namaste
