“Each season of your life is here to help you write a different part of your story. Stop living inside past chapters. You’ve learned lessons and you’re better for them. Honor where you are and soak up everything this season has to to offer you.” ~Unknown~
Good evening dear ones. A few weeks ago I lost one of the most amazing women I knew. All of my life my mom had been there for me. She raised me on her own all while working full time and going to school. She was my rock for nearly 50 years. She was who I leaned on in hard times and we talked nearly every day. We would vent to each other when we were pissed at the world, we would cry on each other’s shoulders when we came on hard times. We laughed together, yelled at each other, and loved each other fiercely. She taught me a lot and I am forever grateful that she was in my life for as long as she was.
The journey to get to this point was a tough one. I watched the strength my mom had always had throughout her life fade like fire slowly burning down to nothing as it runs out of fuel. Rather than throw another log on the fire, my mom chose to let the light go out. She had fought long enough. My mom’s own path was littered with hard times and I know she was extremely tired. Not the kind of tired that can be eased with sleep, but the kind of tired that is deep in the soul from fighting the demons that haunt our minds.
After my mom broke her ankle last year she confided in me that she had thought of ending her life many times since she was about 13 years old. She endured much and I am certain I do not know the full extent of what life threw at her. She kept a lot of it to herself and fought many battles alone. She would say she didn’t want to burden anyone with her problems, but I would have gladly listened to whatever she needed to say. I weep for the child that she was who felt that life was almost too much to bear. I weep for the woman she grew to be who spent a lifetime in survival mode. Despite the hard times, she lived life mostly on her terms and left this world that way too. The season of my life with her in it may be over, but the lessons her presence taught me will always be in my heart.
My loves, do not take anything in this world for granted. Treat those you meet with kindness as you never know what someone is going through. Please be good to yourselves and each other. Yesterday is past and tomorrow isn’t promised. Live and Love for today. Be Kind, Be Peace, and Be Love. -Namaste-
