"Sometimes things happen that makes no sense at all, you ask yourself 'how can another person willfully hurt another'. It is more of a statement of disbelief than a question. All we could hope for is that our collective voice against the inhumanity of the few and our universal desire to live in a compassionate filled world extinguish the fire of hatred others have spawned. Let us not forsake our own humanity." ~Dodinsky~

Good morning dear ones. Can anyone tell me when Life stopped being sacred? Was life ever precious or held so dear that the thought of taking someone else's life was horrifying? My heart is heavy with the pain of the world and my soul is weary of the hatred that continues to remain undaunted, no matter how many lives it consumes.

For millennia there have been wars that have been started for one reason or another that have taken many innocent lives. History mentions sacrifices to the gods, for good fortune, good harvest, or to make sure a building will remain standing. Witch trials in Europe and in Salem, MA saw to it that anyone accused of being a witch, true or not, was put to death. The death was either by hanging or starvation in a cell, burning, stoning, and lets not forget the torture that was done beforehand. The accusations usually came from people who wanted their land or because of some perceived wrong doing done by the accused. The invasion of what is now called America, land of the free. This land wasn't discovered, it was taken by force. People were already living here and they were forced or coerced into giving up their land that they've called home for centuries. The civil war pitted brother against brother in a bid for political power. Slavery may have been ended, but those that had been slaves still weren't free of oppression or prejudice. They were still seen as less than human. One man had thousands put into concentration camps because they weren't the 'perfect race'. These people were gassed, tortured, and starved, and many did not survive. Those that did survive were left with horrifying memories that most would rather forget. Serial killers take the lives of people for reasons only they truly know. Most of it is some twisted sense of reality and they see the object of their hatred or pain in someone they know nothing about. Mass killings, whether by bomb, or guns leave the rest of us shaken and afraid of what's coming next. Human trafficking, mostly children and women are sold for whatever reason then disappear. I don't even want to think about what is done to them after they are 'purchased'. Men and women are beat up or killed for preferring the company of someone of the same sex or because they feel that were born the wrong sex. Some people are afraid of the law because the color of their skin makes them a target and they wonder if they'll make it home to their families. They do their best to be good people. They work, pay bills, pay taxes just as everyone else does, yet they still remain suspect, and feared as a whole. Some police are afraid because their uniform makes them a target and they wonder if they'll make it home to their families. They work hard to protect the citizens, take caution on traffic stops, hesitate to pull their weapon, yet they still remain hated and feared as a whole. This, my friends, is only a snapshot of what humans have done to each other. So I ask again, was Life ever sacred? Was Life ever precious or held so dear that thought of taking someone else's life was horrifying?

The color of someone's skin isn't a choice that they made, it is a matter of birth and genetics. Who a person falls in love with isn't a choice, it is a matter of the heart. Instead of trying to understand what makes us different, it is feared. I have never understood that fear. Who someone loves has nothing to do with me. The color of someone's skin has nothing to do with who they are as a person. It should not define how we view them, and it certainly shouldn't give anyone cause to do them harm. Life is valuable my loves and is truly sacred. If your pain, fear, and hate is so great that you cannot see that, then I am sorry for you. What must you see in the mirror when you look at yourself that would allow you to throw life away so easily? Please, take a long hard look, dig deep, and find the root of the fear. If you can calm it and begin to see with love instead of hate then, maybe there is hope for the human race yet.

Be good to yourselves and each other. Life is far too short and far to precious for anything else. Learn to love yourselves, and maybe you will be able to find a way to love others. Be Kind, Be Peace, and Be Love. Never let a day go by without telling your loved ones how you feel. Yesterday is past and tomorrow isn't promised. Live and love for today. - Live - Laugh - Love - Namaste
