Passing Through

"You will continue to suffer if you have an emotional reaction to everything that is said to you. True power is sitting back and observing everything with logic. If words control you that means everyone else can control you. Breathe and allow things to pass." ~Bruce Lee~
Good evening dear ones. Do you ever get so entrenched in your mind that you don't think you'll ever get out? Do you let the thoughts in your head take over and control how you see every day life? I have, and I can tell you that it is not a fun place to be. It isn't always darkness, in fact, I wouldn't call it darkness at all. I would liken it more to a harsh bright light that is in front of your face, blinding you to everything around it. Add to it a loud noise, such as nails on chalk board, that deafens you to all other sounds. Your senses are so overloaded that the only thing you can concentrate on are the thoughts in your head. Sadly, most of the time those thoughts lie. They trick you into believing things about yourself, others, and situations that simply aren't true.
Over the last few years I have explored Meditation more, as well as Buddhism and a couple of terms I've heard and/or read during the exploration is 'Monkey Mind' and 'Observer'. Monkey mind is essentially over-thinking and allowing your mind to go all over the place. The 'Observer' is witnessing your own thoughts and letting them flow freely through your mind without reacting to them. I can certainly say I can relate to 'Monkey Mind' as mine has certainly done it's fair share of being all over the place. Over-thinking was and sometimes still is a not-so-favorite past time of mine. I have tried to calm it, become my own witness to my thoughts, but it hasn't been easy. However, I intend to keep trying because peace of mind is important and I know it will help. I am learning to sit with my feelings and observe why I feel the way I do. It has gone a long way to getting to the root of my issues and healing them. I still have a ways to go but I am getting there.
My loves, take a moment to get out of your head and try to put the monkey mind to rest. Give yourself a chance to observe the thoughts that come through and let them go. Not every though that goes through your mind needs a reaction and if you cease to react those thoughts will be less likely to reappear. I encourage you to sit with the ones that bring a strong reaction and try to find out why they effect you the way they do. Do a deep dive into your heart and dig out the shards of your past that continue to cause it to bleed. Sit with those shards, thank them for the lessons, and then let them go. I know this is easier said than done and it will be messy. However, I also know it is worth it and you will begin to heal. There will be scars, to be sure, but those scars are just proof that you survived. Journey on Warriors, you got this!
Take care of yourselves and each other. Live life to the fullest and never let a day go by without telling your loved ones how you feel. Be Kind, Be Love, and Be Peace. Yesterday is past and tomorrow isn't promised. Live and love for today. - Live - Laugh - Love - Namaste
