“It’s only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth – and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up, we will then begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had.” ~Elisabeth Kubler-Ross~
Good evening dear ones. What do you remember of your childhood? I remember playing outside until the lights came on. Playing in the dirt, jumping in mud puddles, and drinking out of a garden hose are just a few of the things I can recall enjoying during the summer months. In the wintertime, there was sledding, snowball fights, and building snowmen. Looking back, I can’t think of a single thing I would change. I’m so glad that I grew up without video games and cell phones. I had to use my imagination, have conversations in person or over the phone, and endure many family get-togethers whether I wanted to or not. I may not have always enjoyed that time, but I am forever grateful I had it. I have memories, good and bad, that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. I feel as if I lived.
When I had my boys, I wanted them to spend their time outside rather then in front of TV or computer screen. I allowed them limited time playing video games or watching TV as I wanted them to get out and be around others. Admittedly, my children had few friends, but they had each other and if nothing else, they got some fresh air and sunshine. I wanted them to enjoy all that life had to offer, not just sit inside with their eyes glued to a screen. Life is too short to just sit inside waiting for the world to pass us by.
Today many people are living their life inside. Fear has gripped the world and all most of us can do is watch. When my boys were sick, I kept them home just as I was when I was young. It wasn’t easy as I raised them on my own, but ultimately it worked out and if I was in a real pinch my mom was able to help. If I was sick, I did what I could to stay home, but I didn’t always have a choice. I would take care of myself the best I could and rest when I had the chance. I’ve learned that if you don’t rest from time to time, your body will force you to. For so long we have been cut off from our own natural healing abilities and we have stopped listening to our bodies. We push ourselves beyond our limits and then we are surprised when we are knocked down. We fight each other about who’s right or wrong and more than physical sickness has spread rapidly across the globe.
My loves, I ask you to take a moment and relive some happy memories of childhood. Ask yourself if you are truly living or if you are just going through the motions. Check in with your body, and mind and find out if you should give yourself a break. Take care of yourselves and each other. We only have this life, this moment that we are in to live to the fullest. You never know how much time you have left on this Earth and I hope you are able to find joy before it’s too late. Be Kind, Be Peace, and Be Love. Yesterday is past and tomorrow isn’t promised. Live and love for today. – Live – Laugh – Love – Namaste
